Igniting the Slow-Fire from Within

Who doesn’t want to feel happier? Who doesn’t want more energy? Who doesn’t want to feel their best?

The answer is no one. We all want to be the happiest and most energetic versions of ourselves. We all want to lead our best lives. But, how?

Let’s strip it all down. Let’s talk about purpose. For a moment, let’s just forget about the pandemic and our fast-paced modern lives. I want you to remember who you are. You are a human. Your primary purpose in life (according to Darwin) is to optimise your physical self to be able to be better humans. Your purpose is to survive and thrive. We are quite unique animals. Unlike other creatures with whom we co-exist, they are largely restricted to their biological makeup. A tortoise can only go so fast, and no matter how much you may train it, it will never be able to run at the speed of a rabbit. However, we are different.

Of course, we could never run at a speed of 100km/h like a cheetah. But we can run 100m in under 10 seconds. The point is we can improve, train and strengthen. I am not saying that everyone should be striving to run as fast as Usain Bolt, but the point I am trying to make is that we can do better. We can always do better.

Whether you are already running 5Ks under 20 minutes, or haven’t worked out in months, there is always something you can do to improve, challenge, and inspire your body.

Inspiration and motivation are not external things that are going to suddenly strike you and change your life forever. Inspiration and motivation are like a slow-burning fire that comes from within. A slow-burning fire that keeps the core warms, but you have to harness that energy to keep your entire body warm. This analogy can be translated like this - when you have got a strong ‘why’ (i.e. the slow-burning fire from within), then YOU have to make the effort to answer all the other questions like ‘how’, ‘what’, ‘when’. The motivation will only get you so far. The inspiration will only last you so long. All it will do is make you think. But the action and execution? That’s on you.

Earlier this week, I shared a Youtube video (which I will link down below) that was purposed to re-ignite this fire. To give you a helping hand to get out of your fitness slump. I shared how I personally went from 0 to a 100. And let me tell you, it didn't happen overnight. It took days, weeks, and months.
